The role
As a Civil Engineer working in our Infrastructure team, this role is responsible for devising innovative engineering designs and administering their construction, including through the commissioning, handover, and review during implementation. The position holder can work independently as well as supervise more junior staff with the support and supervision of senior personnel in the Infrastructure Team.

Role specifics
- Design and drafting of Water infrastructure including water, sewer and stormwater assets.
- Assist senior engineering staff with management of delivery team and project management generally.
- Co-ordination and submission of design packages for authority approvals.
- Application of WSA codes and authority technical specifications in undertaking designs.
- Site supervision, as required, for the installation of water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure.
- Interrogate design solutions to ensure full compliance with codes, standards and project briefs.
- Attendance of co-ordination meetings and resolve design issues between external consultants and clients.
- Write concise project communication and technical notes.
- Communicate via e-mail, MSTeams, ACONEX and other web-based project management platforms.
- Review design documentation mark-ups and ensure that the drafted design is accurate.
- Research appropriate proprietary solutions and ensure that manufacturer’s information that is supplied is suitable for the project.
- Attend internal project meetings to report on the progress of the design.
- Work within the project design timelines and highlight any project risks.
- Review Contractor’s WAE drawings, RFIs and other requests during construction.
- Continue to further educate and attend training sessions as required.
- Manage quality control of outputs.
About You
As a Senior Engineer, Civil & Stormwater, you bring solid current and relevant experience, strong project management skills, and thorough technical expertise.
Ideal Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of a Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ post graduate experience within a consulting engineering environment.
- Intermediate/advanced AutoCAD capability.
- Good understanding and application of the WSA codes.
- Intermediate/advanced use of 3D terrain modelling software – preferably AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Good oral and written communication skills with use of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint etc)
- Be able to be registered as minimum C2 designer as per the Sydney Water competency standards.
- Experience in utilities coordination and/or water related design – a plus but not a requirement.
- Ability to work independent and inquisitively.
- Strong team player who contributes to a positive and collaborative culture.
- Passion for self-development within the field of water engineering (sewer, potable water and stormwater).
- Taking initiative and having a proactive approach in solving project challenges.
- Good project management and communication skills
