The role

As a Senior Civil Engineer at WSce, you will lead the complete lifecycle of urban development projects—from initial concept through approvals, construction, and final handover. This role offers the autonomy to work independently while providing mentorship to junior engineers and playing a key role in expanding our Victorian team.

You’ll join a team that sets industry benchmarks, redefines what’s possible, and champions innovation. The ideal candidate brings extensive local experience and established industry networks to support the strategic growth of WSce’s Civil Engineering division in Victoria.

Role specifics
  • Manage and deliver key urban development projects, including client, staff, and sub-consultant management.
  • Design and review civil works for urban developments.
  • Prepare stormwater, WSUD, bulk earthworks, pavements, and water/sewer designs using AutoCAD and 12D/Civil 3D.
  • Lead authority liaison and approvals (council, utilities, and government agencies).
  • Undertake modelling (DRAINS and MUSIC) to meet codes and guidelines.
  • Brief and review outputs of CAD/design staff.
  • Oversee QA, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and project briefs.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff to build team capability.
  • Prepare design reports, correspondence, and project communication.
  • Support financial management of projects including forecasting, invoicing, and monitoring budgets.
  • Attend site inspections and prepare inspection reports.
  • Champion WSce systems and platforms (Confluence, Synergy, Trakstar).

About You

You are a senior civil engineer with 8+ years’ experience in urban development projects across residential, commercial, renewables or industrial sectors. You bring proven skills in servicing design, authority liaison, and approvals management, combined with strong project leadership and mentoring capability.

Ideal Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 8+ years’ post-graduate experience in urban development civil engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in stormwater management, bulk earthworks, pavements, and water/sewer infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to deliver designs through authority approvals and into construction.
  • Registration with Engineers Australia (Member; Chartered desirable).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, 12D or Civil 3D, DRAINS, and MUSIC.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Standards, local council DCPs, WSUD principles, OSD requirements, and ARR guidelines.
  • Strong client management and project delivery skills.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to mentor junior staff.
