Bluey’s World

An immersive, purpose-built visitor attraction currently under development in Brisbane’s Northshore Hamilton precinct. Inspired by the internationally acclaimed children’s series, the attraction is expected to become a key destination for both domestic and international tourism.

Delivered as a collaboration between Ludo Studio, BBC Studios, Tourism and Events Queensland, and the Queensland Government, Bluey’s World is located on MacArthur Avenue within the Northshore Hamilton Priority Development Area. The attraction will offer a fully interactive experience, recreating the world of Bluey and her family through set pieces, themed zones, and family-oriented amenities.

Given the project’s unique operational model, which combines elements of theatre, museum, and retail under one roof, a tailored approach to fire engineering and BCA compliance was required. The development is being delivered within an existing warehouse structure, necessitating a comprehensive analysis of building classification, fire safety systems, and access and egress strategy. With a strong emphasis on visitor experience and child safety, the fire strategy also considers high daytime occupancy, family-oriented movement, and clear emergency management pathways.

WSCE was engaged to deliver hydraulic, fire, and civil engineering services for Bluey’s World, including stormwater management and internal hydraulic and fire layouts for the two main venue spaces. Delivered on a fast-tracked program within a repurposed warehouse, the project demanded bespoke design responses to meet aesthetic and operational requirements while supporting high visitor throughput and family-friendly safety standards.

The semi-permanent nature of the venue—intended to remain in place for 18 months, far longer than typical event installations—introduced approval complexities unique to Queensland, requiring close coordination with planning authorities to ensure compliance and timely delivery.
