Overview

Daramu House, a prominent 7-storey mass timber commercial building, graces Barangaroo, a waterfront urban renewal project on the western fringe of Sydney’s CBD.

The architectural marvel boasts a distinguished environmental record, securing a 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built certification and surpassing the 5 Star NABERS rating by an impressive 30%.

Additionally, Daramu House sets its sights on achieving the prestigious WELL Building Standard version 2 (WELL v2) building certification, underscoring its commitment to superior sustainability and occupant well-being.

 

Our role

WSce actively contributed to the project’s success by managing comprehensive hydraulic and fire services. From the initial concept design through the design and construct (D&C) tender stage, we oversaw various aspects, including sewer drainage, sanitary plumbing, domestic water services, and fire safety measures such as fire hose reels, hydrants, sprinklers, alarms, and emergency systems. Our involvement ensured a seamless transition from the design phase to construction, supporting the subcontractor throughout the process.

In the construction of buildings utilising Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), the precision of documentation is of utmost importance. It must be exceptionally detailed and accurate to facilitate the off-site manufacturing process of the CLT.

Errors during the design phase can lead to significant setbacks for builders, emphasising that the selection of knowledgeable and experienced consultants from the outset is crucial for the success of such projects. This stringent requirement underscores the need for a meticulous approach to design and planning in advanced construction methodologies.
