Burwood Grand

Burwood-Grand

A landmark mixed use development in the heart of Burwood municipality comprising three multi-level residential buildings, retail and hospitality.

Overview

Burwood Grand is a mixed-use development within the bounds of Conder Street, Belmore Street, Wynne Avenue, and Hornsey Street in Burwood. Preserving the heritage Masonic Lodge, the project incorporates four levels of parking, three high-rise residential buildings, and street-level retail units, including restaurants and specialty shops.

With a ten-storey and two eighteen-storey structure, the development offers 491 residential apartments and commercial spaces on the ground floor to Level 2 in Building A. Burwood Grand integrates a connected network of landscaped commercial open spaces, contributing to the enhancement of Burwood’s overall development.

Our role

WSce oversaw the hydraulic and fire services from the concept design phase to the Design & Construct (D&C) tender stage. Our team facilitated the subcontractor’s ability to progress from design to construction to ensure the seamless implementation of essential services.

The hydraulic services encompass sewer drainage within the building, subsoil drainage, sanitary plumbing, domestic cold water service, rainwater reuse service, and domestic hot water service.

Additionally, our expertise extended to fire services, including fire hose reel service, fire hydrant service, fire sprinkler service, fire alarm service, emergency warning & intercom system (EWIS), and fire extinguishers.

The project also required extensive collaboration with Sydney Water to facilitate construction activities above a 1200mm sewer main. This involved the strategic relocation of a vent shaft and the design of an odour control unit to ensure compliance and functionality.
